I've always wondered how I would do lined up against
an RT or an SRT-8 with my mods.

There are a grip of RT's here in my town but only a few SRT-8's.
None of them have even looked at me or revved up when I am next to them.

I dunno if it's the sound of my cams or what.
I'd like to go up against both of them for fun though.

What would you guys guess on the outcome on each?

Yea, i agree. You should easily take an rt. I have a friend who has a stock 300 srt-8 , it makes like 425 or 450 hp, i forget exactly. Its big and heavy, has big 20" wheels, but that thing is really fast. I raced him a couple years ago from a stand still and he beat me easily. Granted, my car was mostly stock with a few bolt-ons and i still had the stock suspension. His car was a little sluggish to start, but once he got rolling, it was over. That being said, you would have a much better chance racing one from a stop than if you pulled up next to one cruising on the freeway.

I would say they are too ashamed of their heavy as boats and just what a 'Stang would do to them.

They might rev up and sound throaty on the line, but when they step on it, their cars would be all bark and no bite.

I put a beating on an SRT-8 Challenger when I was running 12.8s to his 13.1s.

I have never seen anyone do better than a 13.1 at my track(auto) but they were also stock or maybe just exhaust work.

Great looking rides though! wow!

There was also a Kenne Bell SRT-8 Challenger, not sure what he ran. On the same night, an RT was running a 15.5! wtf?

If I lived down in the lower 48 and did a lot of road tripping, I'd definetly buy an SRT-8 and drop a blower in it

i have yet to drive one still, but even over on my cuda-challenger.com forum, they complain about the current chally's massive size and admit the mustang is superior in many ways... but we still talk shyt on camaros though

tHE s197 is the perfect size imo.. the Challenger really is a HUGE car lol

Still though, get enough power under the hood and I'd be plenty happy

I read a little bit on the 392 Hemi, and if I read correctly, they are resurrecting a dead block and dropping it into the 2011 Challenger SRT8.
Whay I have no idea is how the hell is this damn thing going to pass emissions standards for 2011? I remember the 392 Hemi never had all that emissions S*** on it, and was never designed to mount all that crap. To put this engine back into production again, they would have to do some serious thinking to put all the emissions controls of today's standards. Cats (simple exhaust bolt-on really), redesign the heads for multi-port fuel injection, redesign the combustion chamber for a cleaner fuel burn so less raw and unburnt fuel (i.e. wasted) is dumped out the exhaust valves, work in O2 sensors, EGR, and of course, OBD2 to monitor and run all that S***.

And what about materials? Will they go all aluminum? I believe the ribbing and other block structural reinforcements were originally designed to bear the loads that cast iron is meant to bear. Unless they go with some heat treated aluminum (which of course is more expensive than your run of the mill aluminum), they might have to redesign the block with thicker integral structural components.

My initial read on the resurrected Hemi is just an initial sweep, I am looking at 5 more pages as I am typing this.
