Default New gear installed today....

And I can't stop smiling.

I had a shop buddy put the FRPP 4.10 in this morning and holy jeebus 1st is short as hell now.

All in all, I am super pleased with it. It cost me $200 to have it installed.

Hey does yours make a howling/whistling noise at all? Mine does between 50-80 miles and its starting to drive me crazy. I have a Motive 4.10 gear. Thanks

should not have a whine when new gears are installed. If so they were installed incorrectly

Yup, if you have a whine after changing the gears, take it back to the installer and have them fix it.

No,

Mine does not whine one bit. My guy had to pull the center chunk out three times to get the pattern correct on the coast side.

The drive side never had an issue.

I used the FRPP 4.10 set. A friend of mine at work told me that every other gear set has a whining problem and were a b**ch to get to stop whining.

Just my 02.

Mine is a Motive 4.10 gear and the sound seems to be coming from the passenger side. Its sounds like a tea kettle, thats about the best i can explain it. I also lowered it 1.5 inches too. Pardon my ignorance, but can that trigger some type of sound from the drive shaft or the way the gears are set up.

More complaints of this type come from people who used Motive gears than FRPP gears, but I tend to think it's all in the install. I say take it back and ask them for a re-do.

Supposedly Motive which makes the FRPP gear is not as good quality because the FRPP is under Ford quality control and specs. Of course install can be a huge factor too.
