Default 305/50/20 NT420S on rear?

So are 305/50/20s possible on rear as far as width and height without rubbing. I see everyone going as big as a 295 but im looking to go that extra 10. I already got the Cervini C-Series Side Exhauset body kit, so ive already bottomed out on the side exhause a few times as well as the front lip. So I dont want to use any lowering springs. I know which rims I want, CS40 silver rims. Just need to come up with the right tire size so I can order them all together.

So has anyone tried 305's yet? or anyone tried that tall of a tire in the back, i think the height is totally fine but its the width im worried about.

And was wanting to do a 255/45 in the front, should I be able to clear everything when turning?

I'd upload a photo of my car but I'm new to forum posting and dont know how lol.

Im thinking of going with the Toyo Proxes ST II instead cause they are a V rating. Didnt realize the other ones were an H rating. Still want to do the 305/50s, and the 255/45s.

Are you really going from an OE tire with a 27" OD to one with a 32" OD?

I love the idea of the width with sidewall but unless you're going with 4.10's or steeper, she could turn into a dog unless you have some serious power to back it up, IMO.

+1

Nuke - He must be another one that doesn't understand the aspect ratio number. That setup would look rediculous IMO.

I would have to see pictures of exactly what your talking about, but I dont think it will look good. if you have already bottomed out a few times I would be more concerened about getting that under control before planning a project like this.

already have 3.73s and some other mods so im not really worried about the loss of power. I want to do 20in rims but i really dont care for that low pro look. Do you think 45 is too thick of a tire?

45% of what? A 255 or a 305? There is a difference in sidewall "thickness" between the two.

To answer your question: No, a truck tire will not fit on your mustang.

305/30/20 would give you a 27.2" tall tire. Would be fine for the rear as long as you have a wide enough rim with the right offset. You MIGHT be able to squeeze a 305/35/20 in there, but that's a 28.4" tall tire. It would be tight.

255/35/20 would give you a 27" tall tire. Would be fine for the front (again, as long as you have the correct width and offset).

The sizes you want to run won't work at all. A 255/45/20 tire is 29" tall. Way too much for the front of an S197. A 305/50/20 tire is 32" tall! That's the same height tire that comes on a 4x4 F150!

To give you an idea of why the sizes you want won't work, look at my sig. The rears on my car are 28" tall and barely fit. The fronts are 26" tall and there's only room in there for about another inch.
