offroad x is gonna be much louder and the sound is depending on what mufflers you have....i have a catted x going through gt500kr mufflers and it is pretty loud but the sound is well contained and very reasonable in the cabin as far as resonance.....then again i got a buddy with an offroad x going to some boomtubes and it is ground shaking lol has a very "canny" sound to it

Catted x pipe means that it has the catalytic converters still on the car. They make these for emmission purposes. Catless means without. (just the headers, x pipe, and muffler) In my opinion, I like the roar sound that the catless or offroad x pipe gives you depending on the muffler. I don't have it on my car yet, but it is the next mod i do. I think sounds extremely good with SLP's. That's my opinion.

An off-road x will be louder. I have and off-road x with magnapacks and like it, I have a 2v though. Try you tube, there are tons of exhaust clips.

how would an O/R X pipe sounds with the Flowmaster American Thunder axel backs? I have heard that dependant on the type of muffler you may get a different tone. I like the lower growl/rumble as opposed to the canned sound. I am about to buy an O/R x pipe and LT headers but would like to keep my Flowmaster ATs in order to save money. Would the sound i get out of this packet be what Im looking for?

Do you mean mufflers instead of headers? I have the pypes mid mufflers system and I love them. I have Boost Brothers longtube headers and really like them, they came without cats, and since I live in Dallas, TX and we do emissions testing I had to get cats. Keep in mind that an off road mid pipe keeps you from passing emissions, since your rear Oxygen sensors will see that the cats aren't working to keep the chemicals out of yor exhaust. If you don't have emissions then I say go for it. I'm originally from Mississippi and we didn't have emissions testing and I rocked the Pypes off road H and it was awesome sounding, then I moved to Dallas and had to take it off because of emissions testing. Also if you get long tube headers you pretty much have to buy a new mid pipe since the Header collector position is different than stock. If you get shorties then you can keep the stock mid pipe or buy a bolt on mid pipe. Do some research on the tube and in the forums. The seach button is pretty awesome, and really helpful.
