Default unusual CD problem

This was rather odd: I have had my 2007 Mustang GT since new, with a shaker 500 6 CD changer. After ejecting a CD, the changer just kept whirring and eventually would give an error message of no cd, bad cd, ejection failure...then would give up and go back to the radio. Now the odd part: with engine off and key out: when I shut the door, the cd changer would start up for a few seconds and stop, when I opened the door, the CD chager would whir, then stop; when I activated the alarm, the cd chager would whir then stop....this hapened all day, then after getting home, I noticed that the screen did NOT light up when I shut the door, so voila..it's working again....

Ideas?

Thanks!

No clue, but don't you think Ford should step it up a notch and put a reliable radio in their Stangs, its a big expensive hassle.

And I wondered why they "upgraded" to a single disc head unit in 2011 ...

Haha, only benefit that I've gotten out of having a 6 CD unit is that I learned the previous owner of my car was possibly Italian and possibly a DJ if you get what I'm saying. Or he just likes to jam to that kind of stuff...who knows?

Gotta love burned CDs being left in the car stereos when they get traded in.

Had no issues when I took it out a few months ago to put the Pioneer in.

My shaker 500 had a lot of issues in my 06, I just dealed with it, always started working again after awhile. Could never get it to act up for the dealership.

The best use of the Shaker head is holding down the garbage can...get a new Pioneer head and you will be amazed at the sound improvement!! and no more problems...

There is a tiny worm gear that does the whole job of moving the cd's around.
Commercial CD's are thicker than burned ones, the thin burned cd's get double loaded into a slot then strip out that worm gear, once the gear goes the CD player is garbage.
I pulled my radio and removed the CD portion then installed a setup to hook my Ipod up to the stock radio. Works great and no CD's to **** with!
