Cold Engine Tapping

Cold Engine Tapping
I've done a lot of searching, but haven't found a direct answer to it yet.
I have a 2005 GT with 58,000 which has had the cold tapping since the day I owned it (about 48,000 miles). It would go away once the engine got up to temperature, and from what people told me it was normal. So I didn’t think anything of it until I drove my brother’s Mustang.
He has a 2007 GT with 52,000 miles, and no tapping whatsoever. Makes me wonder if there is something wrong with my car?
I’ve already seen the engine noise TSB that’s been out for a few years. That only covers cars that make noise after they are warmed up. Mine only does it when cold.
Anybody else have similar issues or maybe an idea to the cause or problem they want to share, if there is one?

What oil weight are you using? If I remember correctly, if you are using an oil with too heavy of a weight for cold operation (the "w" number), that could cause your engine having to work harder to pump that oil into valvetrain, this the valve ticking noises.
Someone correct me if I am wrong here.

What jim5.0 said.
The GT's come with 5W20 blend from the factory. If you're using a 10W then it could be too thick at startup if the temps are cold enough. But in San Diego??? Let us know what oil (brand and weight) you're using. And if you don't know, then change it now.
If it helps, the GT engines are "ticky" to begin with; some noisier than others.

Thanks for the response guys, sorry for the long delay, I was on a trip with no internet access
The car has only been to Ford service since new, the previous owner was the actual owner of the Ford Dealership who had all the receipts since new.
The oil and filter are Motorcraft, 5W-20. It doesn't use a drop of oil either.
I plan to have the oil analyzed at 5,000 miles and see if they find anything. Not overly worried, since cold tap seems to be a common issue with some cars, though I would like to know more about it.
