FINALLY! I am a mustang Owner!! :)
After about 10 years of wanting a mustang I FINALLY bought one! I had a 2003 SVT Focus that I loved to death but it was just missing the power I craved.
I picked up a 2012 Leftover (Funny to call it a leftover when it it was built December of 2011 and I bought it the third week of 2012!) Base model Mustang GT black 6mt (no options, how I wanted it!). Sticker price of 30,500 for 24,600! I got the 3000 rebate plus the 750 brochure, plus another ~2100 in discounts! This dealership was cutting WAY into holdback to sell me this car which is fine by me
It does have the 3.31 gears which I do like being able to turn super low RPMS on the highway (not that I drive on highway much though). But I am thinking I need the 3.73's as im currently registering 13.1 MPG on the first half of this tank with only 3-4 full throttle bursts (not hitting the rev limiter and being easy on the clutch). It does feel fast but not "OMG- FAST" which I think 412 HP should feel like!
I unbolted the muffler last night and really enjoy the sound but am wondering if its too much volume... I did this to get an idea of how a muffler delete would sound but I think the in-car volume is a lot higher because right now the exhaust dumps under the trunk so im sure a lot of noise is echoing off the pavement and into the car, where as with actual pipes going to the back of the car it would be quieter?
I love borla exhaust but CANNOT justify spending 800 bucks on an axle back! I am considering having the muffler shop put two resonators in place of the mufflers, kind of like the hearthrob flow pack system.

Although judging by the name "flowpack" I am guessing those are glasspacks and not resonators? I could probably find some glass packs pretty cheap which would help soften the tone and hopefully kill a little bit of the volume. Right now when I fire it up in the mornings im sure my neighbors want to KILL me!
Any suggestions on intake/tune? I want power but my priority is a SAFE tune!
Here is a crappy picture from the dealership

Welcome! Any reputable tuner would be good. Look at AmericanMuscle.com or Brenspeed.com. As far as the CAI it's pretty much whichever you think looks best because the offer pretty much the same performance value but steeda, JLT and C&L seem to be the most sought after CAIs.
Borla is on the high end of exhaust setups. Look into axle-back setups on the sites previously mentioned as well if you're not satisfied with the exhaust note. Don't drive without mufflers, sounds good for a little while then you'll get irritated, lol

Do your research before your buy the tune. There have been some issues with some of them and ford doesnt take kindly to "tuned" cars that come in for warranty work.
Congrats on getting a great car for a very good price. Youtube has some great video samples of exhaust options. Using headphones helps give a realistic tone. It seems x pipes work better with the new fiveOhs too.
