Price paid will long be forgotten, satisfaction of purchase will remain.

OP, get what you want. $1000 is nothing to sneeze at, but in my world it's not enough to prevent me from waiting and getting exactly what I want.

I would rather go without then get something I almost want.

Exactly!

My best friend has always bought what he could afford at the moment, instead of waiting a few weeks / months to save for what he really wanted. In the end he ends up spending way more money to replace the cheaper item / junk he bought.
