Exhaust cutouts

Exhaust cutouts
Hey guys, I have a fully stock exhaust system except for borla s-type axle backs. Would there be a significant increase in loudness if I installed electric cutouts from QTP on the H pipe right after it bolts onto the cat? Would that be the loudest place to put them? Also, what size are the pipes of the H pipe right after it connects to the cats? And are QTP cutouts the best way to go?
Thanks guys!
Thanks guys!

Before putting cutouts on, I'd unbolt everything from the H pipe back to see if you care for the sound. Many don't. You won't gain any RWHP since the stock systems tend to flow extremely well.

Ok, I have to fix a leak between the h-pipe and cats with my friend, so I will disconnect the h-pipe completely and see how it sounds. Im only looking for sound as of now, the car has more than enough power for me. I only drive on the streets, no racing. If I dont like the sound of the car after I take the H-pipe off, would there be a difference if I placed the cutouts right before the muffler? Thanks!

These mod motors sound kinda weird even with open longtubes. I think cams help some. I always thought an open side exhaust off cutouts right behind the H pipe (with headers) would probably sound badass but there's not really any room to do that.

Also if you don't like the test sound, have you considered the Boss 302 or Kooks systems? They have an H pipe with the side exit already welded in. I believe the side pipes further tune the sound.
Are you considering cutouts only to make it louder, or to control the sound on demand? If just louder, you don't need the cutouts with the above systems, just run them open. If you do want cutouts, QTP makes special "Boss" cutouts that are a design compatible with the pre-welded H pipe.
I have the Boss system by the way. I like it, but the problem is they are kind of hard to find now.

I have cutouts on my 5.0 and I like them. I put them near the back end of the car behind the resonators infront of the rear axle with them aimed outward. Its nice to be able to open them and close to go back to stock mufflers whenever you want.
I also never mounted a switch, they are remote controlled.

If u wanna know what it will sound like if they r placed after your midpipe, take off your mufflers. It won't be crazy loud just kinda unrefined. You won't want to place them after your cats before your mid pipe, you don't want that sound under your butt in the cabin. It won't be tolerable. If you had stock mufflers I would say remove the cats and add cutouts after the midpipe. That's a huge difference.
Now, in my situation, I'm thinking about put QTP cutouts after my midpipe. Videos I have seen sound awesome. And my cams will make it sounds even better.

I think some of my exhaust gas still goes through the mufflers so its not as loud as just removing your mufflers. Its barely louder than roush exhaust, if louder at all with my setup.
theres a demonstration of my cutouts
