Well, after 3 months I got my hood from Cervini's and the paint don't match. I've seen all the post on the reasons why from, temperature to all paint jobs need blending. BS. Why is it when I purchased other G2 redfire exterior parts they matched perfectly. This is the second Cervini that I had that doesn't match. One painted by a local (suppose to be the best) and the second by Cervini and it's the same miss, lighter than the OEM. My mustang has not been repainted and has been garaged, so not much fading. It's looks to be a match on different angles but look at the last pic in the shade of the garage and it's obvious. Frustrating and I would imagine to have it blended would be $$$$$. Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa....
My bad. It isn't locked all the way down. I have to put a tender on it because of a parasite battery draw and I don't put it all the way down in the garage.
My personal opinion on this is when you get pre painted exterior components. Especially small ones. Its probably less likely that you would notice a difference. A hood that was painted then installed on a car. I would think would be noticeable b/c it is a focal point of the car. Urs isn't bad but as the other poster suggested in some of the pics it is slightly noticeable.
When I purchased my hood. I paid to have it blended. Which is most likely what you should have done. It always costs more money to do it right as you have already mentioned.
I agree with most of your post. I couldn't drive the car over to New Jersey to have it blended at the time the hood was done. I'm sure Cervini's doesn't do that any way. I guess the biggest point is why does Cervini's claim to MATCH OEM PAINT IF THEY CAN'T DO IT. I paid big $$$$ to have it down right in the first place.

I believe they all say Match OEM paint. Its a sales pitch. Just like the the numbers for HP when adding a simple Throttle Body. Its always over stated. Just b/c ur car is garaged doesn't mean it doesn't have slight fade from being outside. Chalk this up to live and learn.
Yea, I get the pitch, been in retail 45 years. Just posted in case anyone is considering Cervini hood/paint. This isn't the only post about them and a botched paint job that I found. Disagree with the paint fading thought. In my 63 years of life, usually a paint will fade to a lighter color because of the ware on the clear coat and eventually the paint itself. Doesn't get darker from what I have seen. But as I said, other vendors seem to be able to match.
Dude, there are multiple color variations even within an OEM production run, and it would be impossible for anybody to match the paint perfectly under any circumstance. No body shop would ever be able to match that paint perfectly, even if they had the car in person to compare it to, which is why virtually all repairs and panel replacements get blended to the adjacent panel....if the repair is done properly. Anyone who tells you different has no idea what they're talking about. I've worked in body/paint, I've taught body/paint repair in a college, and I've handled thousands of automotive insurance claims as an insurance damage appraiser.
Yea CJ, I'm there. It's been a slow acceptance. I thought dogs and kids ruined my perfectionism, but apparently not. After the local missed it, I thought I would get lucky with Cervini's. Ah well. I'm good. Thanks.
