Default Advice: Exhaust Setup

I know this has been covered many times, but with Christmas money arriving soon...

I'm going with offroad X or H pipe (X Probably) and axle back kit. If I go with an X-Pipe, what axle backs should I choose? Im looking for that idle rumble and a very deep WOT sound.

I want it loud, but not so loud that I incur tickets every time I try to have some fun.

Any advice or clips would be greatly appreciated.

SLPS and O/R h-pipe!! At least that's what I'm going with...

I found these clips earlier, and they made my mind up for me! May not be what your looking for, but I for one like the sound.

Bassani x-pipe w/competition cats, Flowmaster Axle backs.

I bought the slp loudmouths for mine, but i heard an 05 with the JBA axleback yesterday and it sounds great, nice low rumble at idle and comes alive when you stand on it

You will definitely get more of the sound your looking for with an H-pipe instead of the X-pipe.

Don't do it!! I originally had the JBAs on my car because I liked the low rumble of them more than the SLPs. Needless to say I had my SLPs on 3 months later because the JBAs were slightly louder and deeper than stock. But more power to you if you are looking for a quiter, softer exhaust.

I was planning on doing an of road X this winter - but I am now leaning more towards an H. I've talked to several folks around town and read here quite a bit that the H will give a more DEEPER rumble sound that I'm sure we all remember from our 5.0 days. I've also heard this from Brent at Brenspeed. And I've read and heard from several that not only does the X have a more higher pitch and insane noise level - but also seems to have a rattling/ticking/leaking type of sound to it.

I'm curious to read more about this here - hopefully by the time Feb. rolls around I can be confident with my decision to go X or H

Please educate me. My 05' came with 2.5" pipes and an H-pipe from the factory. What could possibly be better than that up the middle? I would consider headers and mufflers but i have seen too many Dyno runs that show exhaust upgrades to these cars only produce minimal power gains at very high RPM's. If it is strictly a sound issue....can't beat flowmasters. X-pipe kind of gives them that indy car sound (you know like a bunch of pissed off hornets in a 55 gallon drum)

performance= X-pipe sound=H-pipe

but since you have a GT either will sound nice.

go to www.brenspeed.com and do sounds... they have a few clips of MAC's, Flowmasters, and i think SLP Loudmouths (they live up to their name) with both the H and X... i like the MAC's with H

Thanks for all the advice. I will definately be giving an O/R H-Pipe and Bassani's some more thought, though I still like the Loudmouth axlebacks. Come and ticket!
