From what I've read, the H pipe isn't effective above something like 2500 or 3500 RPM's, so it's really only giving the same advantage as an X at low RPM's....which you shouldn't be at anyways right??
Yeah, if just look at the h-pipe you can see that the pressure tube is perpendicular to the pipes so if the exhaust is moving fast its obviously gona have a harder time crossing over, whereas the x-pipe forces the paths to cross. As my uncle says...H-pipes are old technology.
yeah it's kind of old tech but it is distinctively mustang in the sound. flowmasters and h pipes scream i'm a mustang...along with the smell of burnt rubber and squealing tires!!!
my dad does a lot of custom headers and exhaust systems and we have yet to see anymore than 5-10hp with addition of an x-pipe on any type of vehicle so IMO it really does come down to preference of sound.
