Check the manual, but I believe CEL flashing is bad, supposed to indicate engine damage is occurring so shut it down immediately - and
CEL on solid is a lower severity warning.

CEL can make toast of your cats when flashing. Any mods on your car? If not bring it to the dealer ASAP. DO NOT DRIVE CAR WITH FLASHING CEL!!

not sure if it's the same on the new ones, but a flashing CEL meant the engine was misfiring on my 96 cobra (only happened once on startup in cold and rainy weather...freaked me out)

It does mean the engine is missfiring. When you dump the unburned fuel in the cats its like a blast furnace and melts the cats.

Its the plugs.... Same thing happened to me, was a mixture of bad gas and ocane boost that i had used in the car. Bring it to ford have them check the plugs. Ford told me to f*ck off seein as though they knew the car was modified. I had to order and purchase the plugs myself, 120 bucks later... car runs like a dream...

Could be fuel injection also...
get your car back to stock and take it in.
I needed a whole new engine! They thought replacing an injector would solve the problem but nope!

well the first day i got it, on the way home from the dealership the cel light was flashing then just stood on. The next morning i called up the dealership and they told me to bring it on in, so as soon as i got near my exit to the dealership the damn light turns off! when i got there one of the tech's said it's ok becuase the computer stores the info, all in all they said it could be the coil. Anyway that was a few weeks ago and for the past few days its been acting up [:@]

Also my gas gauge is been going retarded (floating) what do you mean "bad" gas? was it really old or was the octane too low? ive been using 87 oct. is the ok? oh and the car is completly stock. Just curious, when i hit 6k rpms the car jerks and wont let it go any further that is just a rev limiter and not a miss-fire right? [&:]

Computer shuts down engine at 6K. Engine is tuned for 87 octane.
