I am new to the forum and live in the Boston, MA area (South Shore). My new fully loaded 2020 Shelby 350 Mustang was just involved in a wreck. Some idiot ran a red light and almost T-Bone me but hit the front instead due to my Ninja reflexes. LOL
Anyways, I am pissed because the car is brand new with 600 babied miles on it (OK, some burn-outs) but it was spotless in mint condition. I found a great body shop (although I am neverous as hell its never going to be the same, worried the insurance is gonna take short cuts) but my question is should I find a mechanic, it looks like the Front right intercooler was hit and oil line maybe? Can anyone tell me from the pic what these are and should I have them inspected? What else should I request and why? I am sure the dudes insurance is going to give me a hard time. The hood also looks like it crumpled a bit on the left.
Ask for depreciated value as well...it's a check the At fault drivers insurance company will pay you for the loss in value of the car. Say it was worth $30K before the accident but, now, even after the best repair possible, it's lost $5K in value and would only sell for $25K. Not only would the at fault insurance pay for the repairs but, also the additional $5K. Worth asking and pushing for on cars that are no older than 2-3 years old and expensive to start with.
You might need to talk to your insurance and have them go after the other guy's insurance for it. Most companies scoff at such requests when you don't have your agent working for you.
A reputable body shop is going to make sure all the mechanical stuff is fixed as well. Tough break wrecking a brand new car. By the way, you shouldn't be doing burnouts with only 600 miles on the drivetrain. Read the manual on rev limits for the first 1000 miles.
