Which suspension package would anyone recommend?

The Roush....or Roush stage 3?
Steeda?

Any recommendations and why would be appreciated.

Here is a picture of my car with the Roush Stage 2 Suspension:



The Roush lowered my car exactly 1" front and rear and maintained good suspension geometry in the control arms. I didn't have to buy an adjustable panhard bar either because the axle did not shift from stock.

The difference between the Roush Stage 2 and Stage 3 is that that Stage 3 is designed for use cars with superchargers. The front springs are a little taller to accomodate the extra weight of the supercharger. If you don't have a supercharger or plan to get one, teh front will be about 1/4" higher. I am very happy with the Stage 2 kit. The handling is mush improved and the ride quality is very similar to stock. Best thing to do is find other mustang owners in your area with suspension work and ask for a ride to see what their car rides like. Before I bought my suspension I drove around with a guy who has a Shelby GT. The Shelby GT has the FRPP handling kit. The ride quality was terrible so I scratched that one off my list. I then test drove a Roush mustang at a dealer and thought the ride quality was much better. That lead me to to buy the Roush.

How much are you looking to spend on the upgrades? Any of these kits are going to lower the car, but dont forget to get an adjustable pan hard bar as well to correct the thrust angle in the rear. Most of these kits to keep them cost effective, leave those out even those they are necessary. We have yet to have installed or aligned a 2005+ Mustang that we dropped on ANY kit that didnt throw off the rear end just enough to make it dog track.

I also agree that the Ford FRPP kit sucks as well as the Saleen system. Most of our guys will go either with the Tokico D-Specs or TEIN. However the Tokico units have had some warranty issues as of late.

Thanks for all the great replies. I have leaned towards the Roush packages because of the good feedback and quality. I DO plan on getting the Roush 2.3 Supercharger next spring. I've talked to some folks who said I can do the Stage 2 with a supercharger also...will make a little difference w stage 3, but will have a much firmer ride with the stage 3. Anybody have an estimate on how heavy the supercharger is? I'm not looking to tear it up in canyon roads with the suspension....just a little better feel and cornering ability around town. The real goal is the local quarter mile track.

They recommend the Roush wheels along with the suspension I think pushes it in terms of making you feel obliged to buy their stuff.

I can get a heck of a deal on the stage 2 kit on ebay from a certain distributor for 999 + 80 ship and handling. 100% feedback seller.

I would pass on the Roush wheels, they weight a ton and are pricey. You can get better bang for your buck at the Tirerack or on ebay. I got My Roush stage 2 kit off ebay for $950.00 shipped, probably from the same seller you are looking at as well. If you're going to do the install yourself, make sure you either get the GT500 strut mounts ($60) from FRPP or the Steeda HD strut mounts ($299). The stock mounts are sandwiched together and tend to fall apart when taken off the strut. If they fall apart all the ball bearings fall out and roll away. It is next to impossible to put them back together with all the ball bearings which will cause noises and other issues.

I was thinking of getting the 18" Roush. The twenties are way bigger than I need or care for. How do you like your Roush 2 kit? how much of a difference did you notice? thanks for the advice

My 18x10 Roush wheels weigh aprox. 62 lbs with the BFG KD's. just a FYI.

Thanks for the compliment. The finish on the wheels is beautiful and you can't beat the price.

As far as the Roush kit. I am very happy with it. Worth every penny. The handling is excellent. Body roll is substantially reduced and understeer is reduced as well. The best part about it is that it does not ride too rough for bad streets or carrying passengers. Honestly, I don't think the ride quality is any less than stock. Also, the parts were designed to work together as a set and they work very well together, so you don't have to worry about different components not working well together.
