RIP Brothers...

You know not to start things back up in here but I have to admit that it makes me sick when people start talking crap about us. We go out there every day to make sure we do our part to make things safer for the public. I know that people having nothing but negative comments about the police because a lot of the time, for most people, the first encounter with the police is a traffic stop where they get a ticket and of course no one likes to be ticketed but there is a lot of other things that go unseen. We throw that uniform on and most people think its nothing but let me tell you. When you walk out of the house with the uniform on its like a huge red target was just put on your back. Because the bad guys know who we are and we don't always know who the bad guy is. Traffic stops are pretty much the most dangerous part of a Police Officer's job. There are so many unknowns when approaching the vehicle you stopped. You always have to consider "Who is this person?", "Where did they just come from?" "Who else is inside the vehicle?" "Where is each occupants hands?" On top of all that you have to keep eyes on things going on around you while on the traffic stop. Is a car going to clip you while your standing there getting the paperwork? People just don't realize the things that have to go through an officer's head and the fact that we have to make decisions that can sometimes mean the difference between life and death and we only have a second to think about it, if we even have that long. But people only see what they want. They only see the negatives. They only see us issuing a summons, making them disperse when they form a large group, kick them off private property, shut down a party, etc. We go out everyday and risk the most valuable thing we have, our lives. People need to start respecting that a little more.

I just want to let you know that some people do know what you guys go through. I have had a couple of experiences with police officers when i was younger. Each time it was because i was doing something i should not have, and i can't blame the police for catching me. I have since changed my ways. I actually wish i could be an officer now but my past prevents me from that now.
I remember a couple of years back there was a video that people were got some press down in L.A. I an officer had a guy on the ground and was stradeling a suspect and was repeatedly striking him with his baton. It looked bad. Except, the cop was telling the guys to give him his hands and the guy wouldn't. What people don't realize is this cop doesn't know who this guy is and if the guy were to get control of the cop he could get his gun and possible shoot him. The cop was by himself, and could not risk loosing control of the situation. People think its like the movies but if a cop isn't in control of the situation at all times he risks loosing his life
