My unit has been in country (Afghanistan) for 6 months and so far we've lost 4 of our soldiers and good friends. Three of them were killed on the same day, and one just recently passed away.


Specialist Jordan Shumann, 24 years old, was killed 5 July 2011 when the vehicle he was in drove over an Improvised Explosive Device in Paktia Province. He left behind a wife and a son who was born 25 September 2011.


Staff Sergeant Joshua Throckmorton, 28 years old, was killed 5 July 2011 when the vehicle he was in drove over an IED in Paktia Pronvince. He left behind a wife and three girls ages, 3, 5, and 10.


Specialist Preston Suter, 22 years old, was killed 5 July 2011 when the vehicle he was in drove over an IED in Paktia Provnice. He left behind a wife that he married one month before deploying to Afghanistan.


Sergeant Paul River, 26 years old, was killed in Logar Province, when his vehicle rolled over as a result of Eneny fire of Rocket Grenades and AK-47 fire. He left behind his mother, father, and brother.

I'm honored to have served with them and their ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten..

I lost SFC Glen Jacob (Jake) Whetten at 10:34 on Mar 12, 2010. Jake I miss you buddy and you will always be a part of me.. My prayers go to all my of my bretheren currently deployed.. God Speed to you all..
