Steeda Tune - First Impressions
Yesterday I loaded a Steeda 93 Performance Tune on my 2011 Mustang GT. I have to admit I was a bit apprehensive about the whole "tune" idea. After my initial research I narrowed it down to Brenspeed and Steeda. I called Brenspeed and they told me it typically takes 5-7 business days for a tune. Steeda told me 24-48hrs. Also Steeda has not had any #8 issues either. (Not sure about Brenspeed). So I went with Steeda.
The tune took about 20 minutes or so to upload. Everything went fine. The first thing I noticed when I started it up is that it had a deeper growl in the exhaust. The idle RPM's seem to be higher too but I'm not sure. The throttle is certainly more responsive. The torque curve feels flatter and doesn't have that "vtec b16" feel at 4k RPMs like the stock tune. At WOT it's much faster also I think.
Overall I think this was worth the $65 for the tune. If you are expecting a night and day difference and to feel like you just added a supercharger to your car you will be disappointed. But if you are looking for something different and increased throttle response go for it. I would be upset if I paid $400 for the tune/tuner combo (I bought my tuner used for $100) but for the price I paid I'm happy and feel like I got my money worth.
Steeda's customer service was great and the experience went smooth. Thanks Steeda Guys.
Also one of the mods I forgot to tell them I had are GT500 mufflers. I don't think that should make a difference or really matter though I hope.
Besides that i decided not to go to CAI route as my research seems to lead to believe a CAI is really more for show and sound unless you have serious downstream mods like headers etc...

Thank you for the great feedback, you have made a great purchase!
The Steeda CAI will increase HP on its own and also when other mods are added down the road.
Let me or the Steeda staff know if we can be of any further assistance.
Best Regards,
TJ

Good to hear. Newer models love/need to be tuned more because they are more sensitive to changes unlike older models. Thats the one thing that always strayed me from the 05+....that and the fact I am broke lol. Everything needs a tune to benefit from it. That is why they asked about the mufflers so that you can get the full benefit of the tune.
