second gear problems!!!
sometimes when im just driving like a normal driver... not doggin it or anything when i shift into second it doesn't catch... why is that? should i change the tranny fluid, it only has 23k miles on it and its an 04
My wrangler had that problem when it was cold out. After I drove it for a few miles and got the trans warmed up, it would shift fine. After reasearching, I found out that by changing to a different transmission fluid, the problem was supposed to be fixed, I tried it an it worked. I have heard from a few other Mach guys that Mobil Synthetic trans fluid would alleviate 1-2 shifting problems. I would change the trans fluid to a different type like the mobil and see if that helps. Look in your manual for instructons on how to check your trans fluid. You have to get under the car to see it. The manual has a sketch of it that shows it alot better than I can explain in words.
my car didn't come with a freakin manual. lol but i know a lot of guys up in CO with roush's saleen's guy on my street has a cobra and a GT... this other guy owns a shop, and only works on mach 1's but hes expensive... but um... how did those 4.10 gears work for you? did u notice any difference?i want something that will give me more acceleration, i want a chip, but dont know what brand or where to get one....
Ahh, so your automatic isn't shifting properly...better get that to a shop asap. Once you get it straightened out, get 4.10s, a 3k stall, and drag radials. You'll have a completely different monster. As for my 4.10s, I felt a massive difference. I can't get traction at all in first or second gear. I can spin thru half of third if I push it hard. I have 275s on the rear too. You will feel the 4.10s more than any other mod short of forced induction. I picked up a good bit of trap speed, about 3 mph, and about 3-4 tenths in the 1/4 mile.
no it didn't come with an car manual, mine is a 5 spd manual tranny. 281 32V engine... KN filter Royal Purple engine oil. SLP catback exhaust X pipe 3" out the rear, from the heads. atleast thats what i paid for...
Lol, I saw manual and still had my mind on the transmission. In that case, under your car on the passenger side of the transmission, there is a place that is transparent that you can see your fluid level. You may have to wipe it off to be able to see, but it should be half way up the plastic see-thru thing. Check around for a manual, they come in handy for random stuff. Does your car seem to shift better once it gets warmed up good?
yeah but in 25F weather cant really get warmed up the way it supposed to...
guess thats why people put it to sleep for the winter. but lets talk gears now.... what brand... and what gear oil did u go with?

I went with Motive 4.10s from www.americanmuscle.com. They cost me like $130 bucks. I went with Royal Purple oil. No need for gear oil additive or anything with the Purple. Alot of people will tell you to go with FRPP gears, and that Motives will whine, but that's B.S. I have used Motives in three different vehicles now with zero whining. Stay away from Richmonds, they are a harder steel, but they do whine. Did in my Z28 anyway.
You'll need to get a shim kit as well, only like $15 bucks, but you'll need it. Don't worry about bearings since you have low mileage.
