Default Tight vs. loose on Steeda Adj. quadrants?

Hey Bruddas,

Was going over in my brain-pan what I'm going to need to do to get my 60's down with the power I"ll have when I get back, and one of the first things that came to mind was "slipping" vs. "dumping" the clutch on a launch.. The way I see it that'll help keep me from bogging the launch by spinning too much. My question is, I've got the adjustable quadrant from Steeda on the clutch, what do you guys think about a tight vs. loose pull on the clutch when it comes to making it easier to slip the clutch out instead of just completely dumping it like a noob? I'm just trying to come up with a list of whatever adjustments I can think of that'll make dialing in my driver mod easier.. LOL

Any Thoughts? Thanks guys..

I think tight is better for slipping man. Reason being, you'll have a better feel of exactly where its going to engage vs having to row the clutch over a distance. My clutch is to the point that I have to push it all the way to the floor to disengagethe clutchand it doesn't engage until the pedal is half way returned, about 4inchs of play[:@]. So I lose alot of time trying to find that spot where it grabs and lets go because its so far apart (hope that makes sense). If you can engage and disengage within say a -2 inch pedal movement, it would be much easier to feather the clutch IMO.

Did you install that Steeda yourself? Will it take the play out of a stock clutch, my clutch is tight as hell one second and almost dangling there the next, very weird. I'm thinkin/hoping and a firewall adj will fix that.?

Hrrmm.. I was kind of thinking about a biggergapwould allow for more pedal movement so you could let off quicker on the pedal and it still wouldn't "dump" the clutch as long as your foot doesn't just go off of the pedal sideways and comes back up with it.. You wouldn't want it so loose that it gives any play in the shifts if that makes sense, but loose enough to prevent severe tire-spin if you have a knee-jerk type of reaction at the line you know? Though I can definitely see where having it tighter like you described would have it's advantages.. That's one reason I'm glad I got that fire-wall adjuster for the quadrant, so I can play with stuff like that.

I didn't actually do the install, as it came with the Ram HD six-puck kit I bought, along with the billet aluminum flywheel so I just had DTP in VA Beach do it for me along with the P1 kit and the header/mid/exhaust install..

I couldn't say as to whether an adjustable quadrant and/or a firewall adjuster would SOLVE your problem Stonie, but I definitely think it would help, as that takes all the extra "play" out of the clutch cable, and most usually have a locking clamp that locks the cable in place so it won't slip and give you any play you don't want out of the clutch. I know Steeda has them, I'm not sure if MM would have them, but I would guess so brudda.
