Default Does this sound right?

I recently bought a mach 1 and the woman (yea female owned) said she had it dyno'ed. Well, all she had were weld in flows when she got the dyno. I don't understand the numbers that well but they read: Max Power=279.5 Max Torque=301.6. Does that sound about right for an 03 mach 1?

5-speed or automatic mach 1? And do you know if it was done on a dynojet or mustang dyno?

It was done on a dyno jet and it's a 5 speed. Also, how do I calculate my hp at the crank?

Sounds dead on for a basically stock 5spd Mach. Anywhere around 280rwhp seems to be the norm for the manual Machs. I doubt weld-in flows added much or anything in the way of a gain.

I think the rough estimate for figuring your crank HP is by using a 14%drivetrain loss. So if you put 279.5 to the wheels, you should be about 318.6 at the crank. MotorTrend did some tests and got a 325hp at the crank for the Mach, so a 14% drivetrain loss is close anyway.

Hey Stang1101, using the 14% rule stonie hit on, the simplest way (if the rwhp is known) to figure engine hp is to picka # you think would be close and multiply it by .86. This gives you rwhp.325 x .86 just happens to equal.................279.5!If the answer was a lil lower, you'd need to make your estimated engine hp # a lil higher, and so on. Takes a lil ballparking at first, but I think it's the easiest way to figure it.A full2.5" catback with straight through muffs willyield a lil gain, your flows just made your car soundreally nice.

my car with weld in flows, and a K&N put down 293/301 on a dynojet. All of them read a little different though.

Well since the tune I added a mrt cai + a mrt catted H pipe, so I think I might be at what, 290-295 rwhp.

BTW dynojet #'s are alwase higher than a mustang dyno. the mustang dyno puts load on the rollars to compensate for load and areodynamics, where as the dynojet is a free spinning dyno

yeah I'd say those mods are good for 15 hp so 295 sounds right to me. Thx to Machmax, didn't know that.
