Default bad synchro, need advice

Hey guys. Ain't been on in a while, been busy as hell. Machs still looking sharp as ever. My question is this....will driving with a bad 3rd gear synchro damage my trans more than it already is even if I'm being gentle with her? Letting the rpms drop and easing it in at the moment. Hate to see what fixing her is gonna cost. ugh.

Keep Machin'

It will just make 3rd gear worse most likely. Just drive her gently into third for a while and save up for a rebuild, TKO or T-56.

I would assume because of the grinding. He said that he has to let the RPM's drop low in order to shift into gear. That sounds like a synchro to me.

you should be ok for a while, when it starts throwing the shifter out of 3rd thats when she's good and done...i would recommend lookinging into either a billet upgrade (like i did) or just go ahead with the t-56 (better mpgs) with the t-56 you'll also get a platform that won't break anytime soon

actually you wont really get better gas mileage unless the t56 is a viper spec. the cobra t56 has pretty much the same 6th gear gearing as our 5th.

the t56 was a thought b/c of that extra gear ratio between our 4th and 5th (for less engine wear rather than mpgs), but IMO cars like ours should remain matching numbers and reasonably close to factory specs.

Hey Rebel...billet upgrade sounds like a good idea...who makes 'em? Easy repair?

Thx again y'all!
