Default Any Advice?

I'm looking at Mustangs and I saw this mach 1: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

I was wondering if you guys have any advice on it? It says the mileage is unlisted but the picture shows 145,XXX.

Any word?

Thanks for the input. The main thing I'm scared about is the longevity. If i got this it would be my DD for a long time, and I'm afraid it'll putter out on me or something. Even if it drives great now, it might not in a few years.

Also, if I did get it, i would probably get it painted (not a fan of yellow). Can anyone think of a good color to compliment the interior?

And lastly, how would this mach hold against a newer (05+) GT?

i believe a mach should be neck and neck if not be able to walk out a newer GT. getting power out of a mach is easy as well. having an aluminum block im not entirely sure how long that engine will last before it starts eating oil. my 01 GT has 125k on it and it ran perfectly fine. these modular engines i think are great runners for a long time and reliable.

I really appreciate the input man. I doubt I will mod it because I am literally mechanically-retarded, which i know is sad and not preferred for a stang forum. And i figure a mach would be a nice quick car (I won't be going to the track or anything) to drive around. I am pretty paranoid about the 145k. My brother's ford ranger made it to 233k+ before it jumped time (new timing belt carried it a couple hundred more miles, now its on blocks) - but i realize that's a whole different thing. So stock for stock a 145k miled (will high miles affect performance) mach 1 can take an 05+ GT?

from what i know a mach should take a 05+ GT, i raced one with a bad launch and would have walked him out if we would have gone into 3rd gear. remember they run about the same power but the mach is just a tad lighter and has 3.55's stock. also my 86 GT 5.0L mad it to 240k before my friend killed it.

That's good to hear man. It's just a tad hard to invest in a car with that many miles, even if there are good odds it'll make it. I'm wondering if high mileage affects performance? It may be a stupid question but will putting a lot of miles on it make the engine weaker or anything? Also, what problems would i expect?

yeah over time the compression rings wear out, you lose compression and thus power, then oil gets passed the rings and you start to eat that. so watch oil consumption, make sure your filters air/fuel are new and clean and maybe run some injector cleaner through the system.

Hmm, I'd really like to get a mach, because of the obvious power superiority. But i might have to end up getting an 03-04 or something GT, since I can get one for half the miles for that price. It sucks, because I know the mach is completely superior.

Wow, that car is wayyyyy too expensive.

I've seen cars with less than 50k miles on them go for that price. Just have to sit and watch the market
