Question Full exhaust suggestions?

Hey I got an 03 Mach1 and I am looking to get an H-pipe and catback for it. While I have enjoyed the Stock exhaust's sound over the last few years, Im now thinking that i want something that will rattle the pavement and sound good while doing it (loud and good being two different things).

I have heard that an MRT 0/R pipe and Borla Stingers sounds pretty awesome and the videos of it online ive heard have sounded pretty darn good but does anyone have any suggestions on a combo that will make the car sound insanely mean? Thanks

You mention full exhaust, that actually means headers 2. So are you just looking for a midpipe and catback?

That's a really good point, right now im just thinking midpipe and catback but i am sure headers will happen sooner or later so lets just say the whole shebang but preferably with headers that are the same length as stock

Ok. Here is just a Idea. Shorty headers give you pretty much not much better power over your stock exhaust manifolds. So if you do plan on doing headers down the road go with longtubes. With that being said, I would hold off on a midpipe since if you go with longtubes you will have to buy a new shorty midpipe for the longtubes. No need to waste more money then you have to.

If you really want to just do a mid-pipe and catback I would go with the Magnaflow catted x-pipe (Since it is a tru x) and Magnaflow Magnapack catback.

Ive heard that long tubes do give much better performance but at the same time ive also been told that they are not a good idea if you lower the car any because they will scrape on everything and with the roads around here i scrape like crazy anyway and my car is completely stock

Since I put on my ARH Longtubes and ARH Catted X, I have better ground clearance then I did with my stock H. They tuck very well. You just have to go with a good brand. I am also lowered 1.6" all around.

Well I gotta say that sounds like it would be the way to go... Now this may make me sound somewhat like an idiot but what is the major performance differences between an h and an x pipe or is it mostly personal preference due to the different sounds?

Headers......longtubes only and get a good brand like SLP, Kooks, etc. H and X pipes......manufacturers claim the X flows better, therefore making more power, but if there is an increase most will say you'll never actually feel it. Many like the H because it gives a deeper tone with a little more lope, especially true w/o cats. A catted midpipe sounds ten times better than a stock one, and an o/r one is for letting people two blocks away hear ya. For a possible future long tube, I recently read that the standard length SLP midpipe breaks down to also accomodate their long tube headers, didn't know that and only read it once so you may want to check that out. Mufflers......chambered ones give ya around 5 hp and a deeper tone while the straight-through ones give ya 8-10 hp and are louder. My preference is o/r midpipe with a chambered muff or catted midpipe with a straight-through muff. An o/r midpipe and straight-through muff sounds very raspy and really wakes up the world, but hey if that's what you want then go for it.

Flip through clips on youtube/streetfire or look at my "Mach 1 Exhaust Notes" thread (right now is on page 5, last post of 2-11-09). I thought it would be a good sticky seeing that your question is very common but oh well. Exhaust clips on the computer aren't like hearing it in person but listen to a couple of the same set-up you get a good idea. Damn, I just wrote a book. Sorry. Hope this helps.
