Default Power Loss???

So I was driving today, just a normal cruise...

However, when I finally gave it WOT and went from 2K to about 6K in 2nd gear, there was a noticeable power loss around 4k. It was like all of a sudden my acceleration stop pulling hard. It was still going strong, however I definitely felt a loss of power. Even in 3rd gear, around the same rpm's I felt a noticeable loss of power.

Haven't done anything different to the car, checked under the hood and everything seemed to be looking fine. Maybe a fuel or oil problem? Not really sure, but any advice would be helpful.

That's interesting, I've been having the same problem with my Mach 1. It actually showed up on the dyno graph as well, although Dan at Pro-Dyno couldn't figure out what was causing it.

You can see the drop in power right at 5,700 RPM, then it immediately picks back up and continues to pull to redline. You can feel the drop in power very distinctly on third gear pulls.

Anybody who has any idea as to what would cause this, please let me and OP know.

i've felt something like that on my car at WOT, almost feels like a slight misfire....i just figured it was maybe a spark plug problem? I don't go WOT very often, and it never happens under regular driving conditions, so i haven't really been to swift on trying to diagnose it yet.

That dip in my power is consistent. It happens every time under WOT at that RPM. My tuner thought it might be coil packs going out. I don't want to foot the bill for a coil pack stress test at the stealership though.

you'd think it would be a mapping issue with air/fuel/timing but as you said your Tuner couldnt find anything. wonder if you could find someone close by that is willing to quickly swap coil packs to see if that eliminates the problem, if not have fun troubleshooting.

the switching coil packs with someone sounds like a good start. If you haven't got any fellow machers around ya and your willing to drive a little we can meet up, that's better than buying new ones if it ain't the problem.
