what do you think caused it in the first place? just a defect or from beating on it bc it only has 36,000

If I was to guess, I would say cheap valves. UPDATE! I contacted ford and got you the answer. The coolant flow through the right side cylinder head was insufficient causing the exhaust valves to overheat and burn. The coolant passages and flow were redesigned to prevent this concern.

That's a very common problem with the Mach's (and the Cobra's). Affectionately know as "The Tick". There are several companies that make a cooling modification kit that can prevent that from happening again. D'Agostino Racing, EvenFlow and APS all make the kits.

your awesome lol, thanks for all the help. So i just got it back from ford and it just started ticking again :/ then the service engine light came back on but it does have more pick up now... eerrrrrr have to bring it back..

Do the "Even Flow Head Cooling Mod", cobra and mach's are known to have the problem and the head cooling mod helps prevent this from happening.

P1000 moniter check- something like that
P300 random mult misfire
