Mach1 and SCT?
Ok Heres the deal...My buddy sold his mustang and he has a SCT X3 programmer for sale that he bought new last year(yes he unlocked it before selling his car). I can get it for half the price of a new one...
I have an 04 Mach1 with a JLT Intake and O/R Prochamber w/ Flowmasters(power mods), also have Eibach sportline, 18'' Saleen rims, MGW shifter but that wont affect the programmer. My questions are.....
1- Is it Worth getting his programmer(200$) with only 2 power mods? Will it be that much beneficial to my intake, exhaust combo? gains worth the 200$........?
2- I would probably get a mail order tune from AM(since I dont have much(2 power mods)to tune....Are they safe tunes? good gains? Anyone ever tried a mail order tune?
Thanks!

A tune is always beneficial but better safe than sorry, follow this link to verify its unlocked...

Its a good price if its unlocked, buy it either way, you can just save it until you do bigger and better mods (headers, cam, blower, etc) or for tuning now. Its also useful because you can also troubleshoot problems on the car (if it throws a code you can use it to see the cause). You can get a hold of Justin at VMPtuning.com and he can send you an n/a tune based on your mods for like $60 or $80.

I would get it, but I wouldn't waste my money on a mail order tune. Take your car and the SCT to a dyno and have it done right if you want it tuned. You will gain some power from tuning, but honestly you probably won't be able to actually feel it. The track should show slight gains though. I got decent gains from a tune, but the guy made 3 passes with it on the dyno before he got it like he wanted it. You can still use the tuner to clear codes, turn off the CEL due to your off-road pipe, etc.
Stone, if the tune came from just about anywhere else, I wouldn't bother but Justin does a great job on his mail order tunes, the guy is good, my car made like 2hp more going from his mail order tune to a dyno tune (he just added a degree or 2 to the timing). He basically downloads a mail tune into my car and adjusted the fuel and timing a bit and 2hp is all he got out of it, he is unbelievably close on his mail tunes.

I felt a difference with weld in flows, drop in K&N, and a twin 60mm TB... Car felt like it ran way better and in a way sounded crisper lol. Idk how to explain it but you will eventually buy one right? Why not buy this one for almost half off lol.
Damn, he is good. If that's the case, then Vader should definitely consider Justin. I've had a couple mail order tunes before and gained little to nothing, but that doesn't mean none of them are good. I'll keep him in mind next time someone asks me about a mail order tune.
