Default New track times.

I went out to a new track today with a bunch of stangs and ran a little better than last time. My previous best was 8.67 @ 86mph. On street tires i ran a 8.49 @ 87mph. Then i put some draglites and 26x10.50 et drags on and ran a 8.41 @ 85.9mph. The tires hooked so good i couldn't launch worth a crap, my best 60ft was 1.88, even trying to slip the clutch. I lauched it one time at 6500 and it pulled the front tire off the ground about an inch, but then just bogged down and about died. Now all i need is some gears! Also, i started shifting in to 3rd at 62-6300 instead of 66-6700 and picked up some time and mph.

Congrats on the new time and nice Mach for sure. W/ stock gears you gotta roll that darn clutch darn near to the 60' so she doesn't bog, that was my experience anyways. Gears sure do help, but w/ anything less than 4.30s it'll still bog w/o just a bit of clutch rolling. I want your front wheels/tires....they would be my 12.2x, darnit.

I tried to ease it out, but the spec stage 2 doesn't wanna slip much. That was the stickiest track i have ever been on. http://www.i40dragway.com/

Nice set-up! Good runs too. I can watch vids like that for hours. I think you're doing about all you can with that clutch and those gears. I know what you mean about that clutch being in or out, hard to slip. I agree with Ryan about the gears. Some 4.30s would do you right, man!

Well I hope my 2+ I have waiting to go in give a little more slip room. That's a hella nice pic there. Assuming you have drag struts up front. Gotta be a neat feeling.

Actually, mine is a 2+ as well. Nope, just some eibach lowering springs up front with the swaybar still hooked up. That was the first time i had been to the track in about a year, and it has got me fired up! I wanna go everyday. lol

once i get my $$$ from the disability im doing a 4.10's and 31 spline rear everything with some sticky things on the back end...i'll come see you when i do get it. fwiw since i havent launched with radials or anything i can't help you out...but i wonder did you keep your foot planted with the 6500rpm launch?

rygi you've got a the 12.2 pass already it's just finding it.

I have Eibach prokits as well. Been told lowering hurts launching but I certainly ain't seen it. Prolly is a detriment w/ much more power. Regarding the 2+, I hope mine has enough slip to let me roll it out. Sticky tires are a waste of $ if the rpms can't be kept up leading to bogging. Oh, and about what Rebel's asking about if your clutch foot's planted, if you're not already doing it when you're fully staged lift your foot up to the point just before where your clutch engages. I found that to be much more effective and predictable with the clutch/gas timing. Again, shweet Mach.

I've been running near perfect runs w/ good conditions. A 20ish pass will take ultra perfect.

Yeah, i left my clutch foot on the floor till i launched. I'll try bringing it up as far as i can next time. Rygi, what is your 1/8 mile mph? I'd like to hit the 1/4 mile cause it seems when my car starts to really pull, the run is done. The only 1/4 mile track around here is bristol, and i heard you run slower up there because of the altitude.
