Question Mach 1?

So, im new to the mustang world and im pretty sure im going to be getting a mach 1?

But from what ive seen, alot of people change the gearing?

Is it like a must change thing, or is the 3.55 gearing fine?

If i was to change it what would be the best gearing for a DD?

4.30, 4.10, 3.73

It's not a must thing at all. The stock gear is actually better than alot of factory stangs, thanks to a lower 1st gear ratio. The steeper gear helps performance and adds a little excitement as well. Changing gears is done on every style of stang for those same reasons. 4.10s are still good go to for a DD unless your car will see mainly highway driving. 70 mph is 2000 rpm with the stock gear and 2300 with the 4.10s. Minimal rpm change due to the .62 5th gear ratio. MPG won't change much, if any, with regular around town driving, but drop about 3 on hwy driving. If you're not serious about racing there's no reason to go steeper than that if you do get gears. Hope this helps.

Like rygi said, its all your choice. The stock gears are pretty peppy. Most people change to 4.10's or higher because its a great bang for the buck mod. I just did 4.10s on my car and it was a great change. The car drives more or less the same but the gears feel a little shorter and the car "feels" lighter. I say when you get the car drive it for awhile and if you like the stock gears keep em. Good luck.

Depends on what brand you buy, and the shops can charge anywhere from $250-800 to install them.
