Thumbs up Vortech supercharger

Its been a while since I was last on so bear with me if someone has asked this before...
...A bone stock mach 1 has a compression ration of 10:1:1. with that said, I know superchargers are safer for your engine than turbos, so if i were to install a vortech supercharger and keep it at 6lbs of boost, would that kill the stock engine? or can the engine easily run with that 6psi setup?

Any chat about this would be helpful bc I plan on getting a supercharger, but I dont want to rebuilt the engine. its my daily driver and I seldom race, I just want the power. Not looking for 600 to the weels lol.

Thanks guys.

You will be fine. It does not matter what type of S/C you put on your car. Most importantly it's the tune. You're speaking to someone who found that out the hard way. Good luck man..

What he said!!!

I have been running mine with 8 pounds of boost and putting down about 380rwhp with no issues for almost 20,000 miles now. The tune is the key. If I sense something is wrong I get with my tuner immediatly and he adjusts my tune and emails it to me to reload. It is all in the tune.

Depends on what kind of power you want. Roots style will be instant get up and go. Centrifugal and turbo will have a little lag time then kick in.

I personally love the sound of a roots blower.

Depending on what mods you already have that should put you in the 400+rwhp range. Car will be safe to around 450 or so to the wheels. Like others said it is important to find a tuner first who can tune the car. Going supercharged is a big step and can be pricey. I just got done putting a procharger on my car. I went the used route and saved around $2,500. But I did run into a few head aches getting all the parts. As far as which brand to use, everyone will have their own opinions.

I just picked up a Mach 1 myself. I was planning on putting a vortech on my GT before it when away. Hopefully I can get the vortech setup on the Mach 1 this winter. I am just pieceing the whole thing together so I have to find everything I need to get it all done. Good luck on your build. I think with with the high RPM range of the 4v, the centri blower will be awesome.
