Default Going to ISU...

Yep, so I'll be off to ISU this August. Any tips for living in Iowa? I currently reside in Northern VA, but I LOVE the country, rural areas, I escape to WVA as much as possible. I'm either going to sell the stang and buy a nice truck OR keep it and buy a beater truck for the winters out there.

Are the trucks beat on real hard out there though? I may just buy one here and drive it out there.

Thanks,

Sam

Dude, welcome to Iowa...I have 95 stang gt vert and cant beat a nice iowa spring, summer, fall night. It gets pretty warm here for a while in summer and lots of humidity. The winters get pretty cold. I would definately get a beater for the winter and keep the stang put away for around 4 months or so out of the year. My sister went to ISU. Lots of hotties, but be prepared for lots of guys also.. The bars in Des moines are pretty cool too which makes it fun. Anyway, keep the stang, get a beater and your good to go... T. J.

Sweet... I'm just looking for some good hearted Iowa people. People around here are always in a rush and have a nice plastic/shallow/hollow feel to them.

Is anyone close to ISU? I have a feeling I could lend a hand in some modding, esp. since I'll be missing my stang [X(]

Hey, I went to UNI (another state school), but half my friends went to Iowa State. I really like Ames, and I hope you will too.

Iowa winters can be really brutal or really mild. We've had some really mild winters the past couple of years. I had no problems driving my GT around all winter, but I would recommend a beater anyway. Preferably something FWD, since it gets pretty slick around here.

I would keep the stang personally. I think you'll miss it if you gave it up. Nothing beats the summer evenings cruising around, I have to agree. I'm an hour or two away from Ames, but if you ever need a hand modding the car, let me know. I'm adding a lot of stuff to my own car this month, so I'm sure I'll be an expert by next fall.

So, i think this is my plan:

Sell my stang and buy a manual 89-92 fox and just keep it under cover for 4 months out of the year.

What's wrong with the car you have now? If you buy a fox though, make sure it's a GT hatchback!

It's a non-pi auto!

4.6L's are too expensive to mod.

Yeah, you're right. Mine is an auto too, but it gets around pretty good. Instead of getting the supercharger, I think I'm just going to stick with the Magnaflow cat-back, MAC o/r h-pipe, 4.10 gears, 2800 stall converter, transgo shift kit, and some fat tires.

I'll spend the $3000+ dollars for the supercharger to buy a fast motorcycle.
