Default V6 Brake Conversion kit

I got my brake conversion kit yesterday, and tried to install on the front with Hawk HPS GT/V6 pads. Got everything on, new pads, rotors and calipers, but the original caliper will not go on. I compressed the caliper piston and no luck.

Is there something I'm missing or does anyone have any experience doing this conversion?

Thanks in advance

Alec, glad to hear you got your stuff quick. Now lets see whats holding up the install.
You noted new calipers, are they the original V6 ones'?
Have you compressed the pistons completely? Drained the brake fluid from the rubber line down?
Did you try fitting the original calipers with the old pads?
What's the vendor # of the pads, I'll check to see if they are right.

I'm sorry, I meant caliper brackets. I'm using the original calipers and it seems like they are too small (?). I had one of my car buddies come by and we got both caliper pistons compressed but it still wouldn't go on. I didn't try anything with the fluids, but am realizing that might help.

I bought the pads at AM: http://www.americanmuscle.com/hawk-2...rake-pads.html

Shipping and packaging was great. I was very surprised it came so fast. I also love the shirt, I'm wearing it today at work

Alec, I hate for you to try this, but how about trying with the original brake pads? If the rotor when on fine, the bracket mounted to the strut fine and the caliper mounted on to the bracket fine, then the fluids might just have to be drained or the pads are wrong.
Do you have access to a micrometer? if so, measure the rotor and I will check stock to see if it matches. Also, I need you to get the original Hawk pads packaging/box. The VENDOR has their own #, i'll check it if its correct for a V6.

Yeah I think I should definitely try that. It makes sense that the pads could be too thick or wrong. I can check the packaging when I get home for a vendor number and will let you know

Thank you for all your help

The white sticker on the side of the Hawk box says HB484 F.670
I think that's what you mean

Yup, that's exactly what I need. And it's right. HPS 05-09 GT/V6 pads.
Any luck finding a micrometer?
I would try the stock pads, then if that works, drain the brake fluid install then HPS's and then purge lines. And that should do the trick.

Don't have a micrometer, but when the weather clears up I'm going to try with the stock pads. I'm confident it will work with them. I also am going to try and have the brake fluid flushed because I looked at it today and it was murky brownish black

I am proud to announce that I had success getting the driver's side front completely done with all the new parts. I had to completely compress the piston caliper and it slid right on.

Working on the passenger side now, shouldn't have any problems. Just those bolts are hard as $HIT to get off, considering they've probably been on there for 5+ years.. Lots of WD40

Thanks for all your help David
