really frustrated
I have a 1995 mustang gt. I installed a 351 Windsor in it. The motor has a mild build Edelbrock heads and intakes. Its fuel injected with all the proper components. Car ran great for about 3500 miles and I had a detective cam. 4 teeth wore off and blew the distributor gear apart. I replaced cam and put an msd distributor in as well. The car won't run. Acts like its out of time popping and sputtering. I've checked and rechecked the timing. Its dead on. I changed the computer. I took one out of a car that was running 15 minutes prior. It didn't make any difference.I changed distributor again and ignition module. Still didn't fix. When I would try to run if I could get it above 3500 rpms it would run good sounded real strong but lots of black smoke like to much fuel. I didn't change injectors. I am wondering if they could cause this problem?
Check your timing, make sure it is right, check your distributor timing, check your firing order (wires), make sure the rotor is pointing to the #1 tower (which corresponds to cylinder #1) at TDC.
If your timing is right, your firing order is right, and your timing is right, and your rotor is pointing to #1 tower/cylinder at TDC pull your distributor out and rotate it 180* and try it again.
