Default 99-01 engine swap

I have a factory long block that I want to put in a mustang that falls within 99-01, since that is what I believe it is for. The factory part # is XR3Z-6006-BRM, and it says
FR engine on the box as well. It was in a mustang with a auto trans. I want to put it in a car that needs an engine I would like to know what my options are. Such as, will it work with a manual as well? Ford parts shows for the 99 options AK-530/531/AA and SK-530/531/BA. The 2000 shows AK-530/531/AA, SK-530/531/AA, AK-530/531/AA, AK-530/531/BA,
SK-530/531/BA. The 2001 shows, 1G-530AA/BA and 1G-531AA/BA. Do I need to check the engine code on the car I am buying to make sure it works. I am guess the different numbers only relate to whether it is auto or manual trans, but I don't know for sure. Could I have help understand what the numbers mean.

Motors are not tranny specific , you can use them with either manual or auto trans , if auto you need the right flexplate , and if manual you need the right flywheel. Of course the bellhousing on either auto or manual trans has to match the engine used. The PCM and harnesses are tranny specific.

I would be transfer all the parts off the car I buy, so you are suggesting that I can go either way! Can you tell me what years this engine will work in? Best I can tell is 99-01.

The 4.6 was used in a boatload of fords , crown vic , thunderbirds , grand marquis , trucks etc etc etc , I used a 4.6 from a thunderbird in a mustang once. I would say (Im no expert) that if its a 4.6 from a 99-01 body mustang it would easily fit in any mustang up to 04 before they went to the 3 valve design. Just swap over all of the stuff that is in the car , harnesses , pcm etc and you should be fine. When switching from different fords , sometimes the heater hoses , rad hoses etc and misc other parts are in different locations , and intakes etc would be different , and camshafts for different power curves but the same basic design stays the same. They also use different timing covers for different accessory locations but all of that can be changed out.
