Default Lincoln 429?

I found a 429 for sale locally out of a 1969 Lincoln Continental and I was wondering if that was the same engine that the Mustang used for its 4:29 or if the Lincoln engine would be a bolt on or if it will require any modification to put in. I'd really like that extra hundred horsepower

Just to clarify the Mustang I would be putting it in should it fit in a 1969 Fastback that already has V8 suspension

probably not the same all boss 9s were hand built at another shop forget the name at the moment. But if I recall correctly they did some heavy mods to the inner fender wells and firewall to make it fit. It's by no means a direct swap.

+1 ^^^

And yeah maybe 100 hp more, but that also comes with over 100 extra lbs. Your small block springs would be screaming lol.

I'm not saying not to do it, but it's definitely more work than a bolt in project.

Good luck

The lincoln never came with a Boss 429. The Mustang never came with a regular 429/460. The motor should fit between the shock towers, but for what it is, a stock 429 from a lincoln will not give you what you're looking for in terms of power, and the additional weight will make its presence known.

My advice is to build a stout Windsor, or at the very most a FE big block. In terms of money, I think the Windsor will give you the most bang for your buck.

The Lincoln 429 was a higher torque lower rpm motor for big car. Not a high performance motor.

Look for some of those 428 and 429 Super Cobra Jet motors they put in Mustangs and Torinos.
