Default 351w into fox body, Headers?

I've installed a built 351w into my 90 mustang and the 2 different shorty headers for a fox body don't fit due to steering shaft. Is there a set of shortys to fit the 351w without altering steering or denting the headers?

Have you looked at Accufab # BT210? It's a mid-length header. I put them on my 351w in a 2012 Mustang, but it's made for the older chassis (a fox body I think). I'm running a manual transmission so that might have some affect on how close the collector ends up being to the bell housing, but I didn't have to dent mine at all.

I am considering sliding a 351 into my 89 LX and am curious about hood clearance. The 351 has a 9.5 inch deck height and the 302 is 8.2 inches. This makes the 351 just a little wider and taller. Did your hood clear or did you need an aftermarket hood?

I think you only have to worry about hood clearance if you go with the factory fuel injection (or the TrickFlow one). I know a guy that has the trickflow one that needed to get a 4-inch cowl hood and have if modified so the cowl was wider to accommodate the intake and the air tube.

If you go carbureted, the cowl doesn't have to be so big, and you won't have to make it wider.

I used swap motor mounts to lower it a little, but my
stock hood will crush the dist cap and with the air gap intake the Holley is about 2" to hi. I went with MAC long tube headers.
