Default Motor mount issues on my 65

Alright. A newbie here so be nice..bought a real solid 65 coupe without an engine was told it had a 289 in it but it was long gone so next i built up a nice lil 302 to drop in it when i notice the mount brackets bolted to the car are completely horizontal and both sets of motor mounts I ordered now the studs stick out at a 45 degree angle ...what am I missing ?
I've been searching the interweb for cheap solutions when I finally figured I'd turn to the experts on here...thanks Larry

Ford made changes in the 289 motor mount/frame bracket during the 65 model year. Ford then changed the mount/bracket assembly again in 66. Here is an article that explains the differences: http://www.mustangandfords.com/how-t...engine-mounts/

Hope this helps.
