3.8L v6 to 4.6L 4V Help
Recently swapped a 2001 v6 to a 2001 4v cobra engine, initially the car did crank and run (never very well). Long story short, it was passed around to several shops and now it is finally back to me and the car will crank but not start. Pretty much every part on the car has been replaced. I recently changed the pcm wiring harness and ccrm, still the same issue. I have four pcm's (two v6 and two cobra), I can get communication with both v6 pcm's, I believe one cobra one is not working (1 shop stated it was not able to flash) and the 2nd cobra pcm (flashed and PATS removed by one shop, which I cant confirm) also does not get any communication. Ive been checking power at various locations and all seems fine, all fuses are good. The two v6 pcm's and the one bad cobra pcm all make the fan run when the keys are in the run position. The flashed cobra pcm does not cause the fan to run, but there is no communication and dashes for the miles. I initially thought it was a wiring issue until I was able to communicate with both v6 pcm's. One shop did have to cut the aftermarket alarm for it to start, but then it randomly stopped starting (not sure if they did something else to it or not). But my question is it possible that it could still be a wiring issue with both v6 pcm's being able to communicate? If it were wiring, none of them should work right? Also, should the car at least be able to start with the v6 pcm? I am trying to see if I am on the right track thinking I need to buy a new cobra pcm before spending money and it could still be wiring. Thanks!
