'10 gt500 or wait for 2011 and aluminum block
Title pretty much says it all. I would say it would at least be another year before the 2011 gt500's are available, but with an aluminum block instead of iron think that this warrants the wait? Would shave around 100 lbs. off the front end. Would appreciate all your opinions, thanks.

It's been my understanding that the GT500 would be getting a supercharged version of the new 5.0. I could be wrong, but that's what keeps leaking through the grapevine....especially since production on the 5.4 is supposed to hault sometime in the next year.
Either way, I'd welcome Ford putting an aluminum block into the Shelby regardless of whether it's a 5.4 or the new 5.0. Reducing weight on the frontend is paramount to improving that car's performance for the future.

Unless Ford does direct injection on the new 5.0L supercharged engine for improved detonation tolerance, I don't see that engine making more power. The current 5.4L supercharged engine has an 8.4 compression ratio. If the 11.0 compression 5.0L engine is reduced down to 8.4 or so compression ratio, I don't see it having more than 540 hp. The only advantage will be the aluminum block being more efficient not becoming heat soaked like the cast iron 5.4L
With the economy "still" slumping (less car sales), more regulations coming, and bankrupt competition, you never know what's going to happen. If I could afford one now, I'd jump on it.
