412hp 390lbft of torque, 25mpg for the 2011 GT
so someone at another forum is the authority? i feel much better now...
anyways, some of you think that the 5.0 making 412 horsepower is as stretched out as the 350z? i dont agree...look at the performance of some of the other 4V engines, NA, in the aftermarket...the other side of that coin is that to modify it youll be spending a fortune on cams...

So the stock gt jumps 97 hp and the new sixxer gets 95 more hp curiouser and curiouser anyone wanna guess stock 1/4 times for each? I'll take a stab at mid 13's for the 3.7 with performance pack and mid 12s for the new 5.0 with performance pack, with the stock 3.7 w/2.73s sneaking into the high 13's with the manual and the 5.0 also sneaking into the high 12's with the manual
Great time to be a ford fan damn I need to get a second job so I can buy a 2011 at the end of next year when the incentives kick in and there are actually some around on dealer lots

I just have a feeling that a 5.0L making 412 horsepower is stretched out. I mean the Camaro and Challenger make 420ish with a 6.1L engines, sure those are OHV engines with half the valves, but it stills seems like a "hail mary" of horsepower for such a small displacement engine to be pushing that power.
Yeah cams would be...a fortune. Doe's the variable valve timing add to the cost of cams? Just trying to think if manufactures have to incorporate that into their cam profiles.

Think of "no response" to bolt-ons as Ford having really done their homework. 412 hp out of 5.0L is pretty amazing, almost unbelieveable just 10 years ago (the M5 barely made 400 back then, with CRAP mileage).
They could've easily tuned it to mimick the last 5.0, and have simple bolt-ons to go from 225 to 412 hp. Sure would make aftermarket parts shine, but no where near as cost effective as having 412 hp straight from the showroom.
