DAMN! US octane sucks @$$, highest possible octane count at the pump is 93, with some places, you cannot get anything more than 91 octane at the pump.

Our pump octane ratings are 87, 89, 91, and/or 93.
Anything more, and you need to go av-gas of some other place that sells race grade fuels.

Also, our custom tunes are set for 93octane at most, that is without mods.

Back to the Oz Boss Coyote, do yo guys have custom tunes for 98 octane? The Boss Coyote apparently would do awesome power numbers just with a tune, Imagine a 98octane tune on the Boss!

Don't worry about the octane ratings, the US uses a different system, they're all the same in the end. As for the Boss coyote, with limited torque output, limited max RPM, no inter cooler and skinner rear tyres choking the new boss, you'll find that any simpleton will be able to extract the best out of engine with as little as a good tune. 500hp is totally in the realm of possibility.

Here is my piece on the new blown 5.0s...

http://www.examiner.com/autos-in-det...0l-v8-boss-335

I spoke with someone from Ford of Australia and I was told that much bigger power 5.0s are coming but they are dealing with IRS issues that are preventing them from putting more power to the GS and GT right now.

Ha! I knew it! Solid rear axle FTW!

If our 2011 Coyotes are feeding power to RWD solid axles, no wonder the Boss Coyote would not be put into anything different!

Well, that is, unless Ford is willing to invest some good hard earned capital into enginners for R&D to redesigning the independent suspension (which they might not want to do).

None the less, Demon, thanks for the link, and for a Mopar fan, I say you are doing great as an admin for a Ford fan site. Your willingness to post that find pertinent to our discussion shows your willingness to pass on info regarless of the car badge.

Our aussie Ford Falcons use a very good IRS system called Control Blade IRS, i dont see why the U.S dont use it in the Mustang hey..

You guys in the U.S might get this engine hey...

FORD Performance Vehicles (FPV) is hoping to export its new home-grown supercharged version of Ford’s Coyote 5.0-litre V8 to North America in a coals-to-Newcastle exercise that could result in the highly-modified, hand-built engine powering a factory Ford muscle car.

The Melbourne-based company this week confirmed it was in preliminary talks with Ford about the potential for supplying the engine – codenamed ‘Miami’ – to Detroit as an original equipment powerplant.

Such a deal would help to offset FPV’s $40 million outlay on the Falcon-based FPV GT’s three-year development, which included sending a prototype to the United States for crash testing.

The company also sent an evaluation car fitted with the latest GT’s blown 335kW V8 to Dearborn last year – a move that is likely to do no harm to FPV’s chances of convincing Ford engineering chiefs of the engine’s merits.

FPV says the engine has been put through Ford’s rigorous engineering regime, complying not only with official regulations but Ford’s own strict global compliance and calibration requirements, meaning the engine has been approved for Ford original equipment use, ahead of after-market conversions such as Ford Racing’s supercharged Coyote variant in the US.

That sounds about in line with the article link Demon posted earlier. The Oz SC Boss could be in the plans to replace the 5.4L in the future GT500s.
And that will only prove that the 5.0 Coyote is so much more capable than what it is putting out now; a "measley" 412 crank BHP & 390 crank ft-lbf torque.

600 crank HP and 600 crank ft-lbf torque from a factory SC 5.0 Coyote? I have no doubts this will happen.

Nope, the 335kw's (450hp) are rated at the flywheel. You have to keep a few things in mind, FPV and Ford Oz have a habit of underrating the actual output of there engines ala the FPV F6 (rated at 310kw (415hp) but actually closer to 340kw (455hp)).

Another thing is that the main competitor for the FPV GT is the HSV R8 and that only puts out 325kw (435hp), so in the interest of improving on this they only have to slightly increase the output.

Finally, the FPV S/C coyote has lower compression than its American brother, limited torque output, limited RPM to 6000rpm, no intercooler and skinny rear tyres. This all makes for a cheap and easy upgrade for future models or if HSV improve their HP ratings.
