Plans to buy a Mustang, but...
Hello,i am new and this is my first post
Me and my friend are planing on buying the mustang
his is gona be 2011 V6 Mustang because it is his first car, and he dont really need V8.
I plan on buying the GT500 as I already got a Camaro as daily drive car
but we have concerns. people tell us the 2012-2013 mustang going to have a new body style and we should wait. I am not into Mustangs information that much, so I wouldn't know if that is true or not.....so can anyone tell me about this?
Also the Z28 Camaro is coming out next year which is aiming to challenge the GT500, so there a chance the Z28 going to be better in it first year and I should wait for Ford respond? like how they responded by the new 5.0 & 3.7?
All your answers are welcome and thanks

Welcome to the board!
As for the 5.0 and 3.7 being upped in ante for the '12 year, they will remain exactly the same as the '11 models.
I know the '12 GT 5.0L will not be tweaked to pump out any more power, the limiting factor is the manual MT82 transmission will not take the additional power to Ford's liking. Ford engineers were interviewed and they revealed the MT82 is rated only at 375 ft-lbf torque at the crank, and the 5.0 Coyote already makes 390 ft-lbf crank rated. Ford is reluctant to up the power of the Coyote until the tranny can be reinforced to take more power; Ford simply does not want to go too close to their accepted safety factors.
As or the 3.7L, I am not sure of the reason why they will not up the output on those in '12. Maybe they are Ford is trying to recoup some of the money they invested in R&D costs they spend to design the new engine.

I haven't heard anything about them changing the body style in 2012 or '13, they just changed it in 2010. The only thing that will be different is the "first year" tweaks should be worked out, but that doesn't mean anything is wrong with a 2011.
Welcome and good luck. Hope to see you around

I also forgot to mention this earlier.
To add to what Alec said, the 2012 and 2013 will not have a body change. The '12 & '13 will actally retain the body stile of the '10 & '11, which are already slightly new as compared to the '05-'09 Mustangs. The 05-13 'Stangs are actually all the same body chassis generation, collectively and colloquially called "S197."
Now, the next generation (body redesign, completely new chassis, etc) will be in 2014.

Welcome from Atlanta. 2014, is the new body style, to celebrate the 50th year of the Mustang. Horsepower is really secondary to the kind of car you want. That's one reason why Mustang has been around for soo long, compared to the others. It's always been a more disirable, fun to drive and better looking car. Ford always had to play catch up on horsepower, never on sales. Just something to think about.

Welcome again...and I too am in the same boat as the OP. so with the new body style coming in 14...would it be a more desired car in the future...or would the 11-13 5.0 be like the 89-93 5.0? Basically should people wait to buy or buy now?

The '14 is going to be the 50th anniversary, so I'd imagine Ford has something up their sleeve, but do you really want to wait another 3 years or so?
