Default Is it legal for Dealer to sell car above sticker?

I was at my local Ford dealer yesterday and they had a 2009 Mustang Shelby GT500KR new untitled. The sticker said $49,000. When I asked about it still being for sale that long they said they would take no less than $65,000 for it.

Curious if they can legally do this.

Im guessing they can sell anything at any price...and also guessing that car is not going anywhere.

Evidently that car has been sitting for 6 years.

Sitting in the show room floor I'm sure the doors have been opened and closed a thousand times.

Well since the price listed on a sticker is the "MSRP" which stands for "Manufacturers SUGGESTED Retail Price", a dealer is free to charge whatever the traffic will bear over or under sticker.

Thanks for the replies. I'm guessing the dealer is using the car more for wow factor than actually wanting to sell it.
