well, I can atest for the LS1's not having a very good off-the-line attribute. I just bought a bone stock 02 Z, 2 days ago and my wifes Impala SS smokes it off the line, even being 850lbs heavier, but she found out that the LS1 really turns on once it gets going. The bad part is, she still beats me at the finish line. Time for some serious mods.

Well the ls1 was clearly a more powerful car, especially since there were at least 2 ppl in in compared to the stang. Really though, that damn ls1 driver can't honk for shizzy - cool vid though - those (even with bad camera man) get mah blood flowin

Just go watch 2F2F again, then you'll know.

Double clutching is what truck drivers do. They use the clutch once and then they can shift gears w/o using the clutch again. Speed shifting, which is good for racing, is when you change gears w/o letting completely off the throttle.

Double clutching is a ricers term for speed shifting. Silly ricers.

the what? double clutching is not what truck drivers do.

Most truck drivers use the clutch to start and come to a stop, but between gears they just float them without depressing the clutch at all. (at least thats what one guy I worked with told me he did)

double clutching means just that, putting the clutch in, pull out of gear, let clutch out, push clutch in, put it in another gear, let clutch out.

You're clutching twice on one shift. it'll slow you down, so don't do it...thats why synchros were invented.

i drive those rigs i have a CDL class B w/Hazmat, lol you are right in both ways 2000si, 99% of Drivers out there do just "float" the gaers because imagine pushing the clutch twice everytime you shifted up or down on a 10,13,15 and 18 Speed trans that is alot of foot work, lol. BUT, when you go for your CDL they actually require that you do double clutch, why i guess because its the "correct" way to do it by the owners manual. but in a car the ONLY time you need to double clutch, is when you are in a hard driving road course and you dont want to kill your syncros, that is also known as "HEEL-TOE" shifting( for those that didnt know that, lol)
