actually the cobra internals are more than stout enough to handle 700+ rwhp many cobras with stock internals are making more than 900 to the wheels with no problems and the gt500s internals are very stout as well. the problem is poor tuning when you have a dummy who owns a great car and wants to put the best of everything on it and add in a dumbass for a tuner then well thats what you get. its the same with the vettes they have hyperetic pistons and can still handle turbocharging. nitrous and supercharging with no problems. the block is always the weakest link. the cobra block is plenty strong enough. its all about tuning, tuning, tuning. i have never seen or heard or read of any good tuner say the cobra internals were weak, especially at such a low level of power. are you kidding me your friends should try a differnet shop to get their cars tuned at. heck john urist' shop will get ya 800+ rwhp with no drivability problems whatsoever and make it reliable.

frank soldridge tuned their terminators...he's one of the best in the business. he tunes the fastest auto in the world driven by ben hopko http://jdsperformance.com/benhopko.asp and a few other big name racers, some that travel halfway across the country for his tunes. he's no "dummy" and their tunes where spot on...just over the hp limit of the stock forged internals. go to the track and/or svtperformance.com and ask what's the hp limits for stock terminator internals...you'll see the majority of replies will tell you keep it in the 600+whp range for some reliability...some replies by those who've blown them. 900whp is fine for a few dyno pulls...not going to last on the street. i've seen a stock s197 make 600+whp on the dyno to show a turbo kits capability...think it left the shop with that power...hell no down to 460whp. again i personally know 2 (not 1) guys who've blown them on great tunes with no fuel issues....so don't tell me what you know from reading mm&ff etc.

this is from a 5 min search....again the limits for the terminator engine's in the 600's...pistons and clearance issues the major problem...600's for the shelby's...rods the major issue

last post of first page...many more if you want to read through it http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...nternals+limit

last post talks about wall clearance but he thinks the pistons are fine (many disagree)

again this is from a 5 min search...much better threads in there if you take the time to look

btw look how many guys have aftermarket built (some stroked) engine in there terminators with under 700whp.....wonder why???
