What a difference a day makes...
Greetings,
I found the forum looking for info on mods, and a friend suggested I look on the web, alas, I found you guys. I just bought a 2006 GT manual after having a crash on my Honda Valkrye. The day before the "get off", I decided to consider selling the bike and looking in a GT. I wasn't riding the bike as much as I used to, and I really have lusted over the GT since the new style in 2005.
I have been riding for 35 years without an accident of any kind on cycles, many, many miles and smiles, but one little piece of cardboard in a turn at speed with a green arrow was all it took.
I had a helmet on, but left the riding jacket off since I was only going a short distance to church. Rear wheel went out, I tried to keep it up, but off I went. Bike was messed up but mecahnically OK. Road rash, a few stiches, and broken right foot was the toll on me. When I came off I relaxed and rolled. There were Army guys in Humvees stopped at the light across from me, and I hardly stopped rolling when it seemed I had 30 of the guys in fatigues and helmets around me. I thought I was in Iraq.
Now I'm sore, brused, and wondering how I'm ever going to get the bike sold and then on to the GT. A few days later a guy calls and offers me $5K for the bike as is, and with the insurance check I was "whole". I deposited the $ in the AM and by the afternoon the black GT was in the driveway :-)
So a week or so later I'm viewing the postings and getting ideas on what to add. I had originally thought about two red stripes down the center, but was counseled out of it by other forum members and friends and the WIFE.....
So with the $ allocated to the stripes, I bought lots of mods, list at the end.
So as the mods arrive via UPS, FedEx, etc., the 'stang morfs day by day.
I have enjoyed the forum and the passion for the Mustangs. I have always wanted one since HS back in '67, so I've been around a while. Now it is in the garage, and sometimes I just go open the door and look at it. More fun than the Valkrye, and that is what I told the salesperson the day before the crash when I test drove a GT.
That test drive was a hoot, since the young man who went with me didn't quite know how to drive a stick. we switched places a few miles from the dealer and we got out on a back road I know from riding the cycle with high speed twisties.
His eyes were as big as basketballs, mouth wide open, and me with a grin from ear to ear. I knew then I had to have one. On day later the crash, the cash, and then the 'stang...
Anyway, thanks for putting up with the long post, I'll go back in the woodwork now and read all the different posts.
Thanks for all your ideas and pictures.
John

Get out, walk up to and yell.
