Default Newbie with 87' GT

Hey everyone. I'm new here and just figured I say a little about me and my ride. I'm 22 and Stationed in South Dakota. I got a stock 87' GT that I bought from my dad about 2 years ago. He's had it since 90'. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's automatic. I'd really like to do some up grades on it but don't have a lot of money to spend on it. If you can help me out and tell me some good upgrades I could do that wont cost me an arm and a leg that would be great. Thanks for the help. So far this is a great place to get info from.
Nice to be here,
Luke

Exhaust and gears would be the best bang for your buck Luke. Something like a cat-back exhaust for around $250 for a Flowmaster kit or $350.00 for Magnaflow and alot of others. Gears would run you around $400 for the gears, speedo gear, & install. Something like 3.73's would be a tremendous benefit for you - even if you do alot of commuting its not an overly aggressive gear and it will really make you feel like your driving a different car, one thats 1000 lbs lighter.
