C6 or C4

Default C6 or C4

I have a 79 mustang with a 302 with lots of mods. It has a T5 in it now but we are thinking about putting an automatic in it. but I dont know if the C6 or C4 is a direct bult on. Please help.

I dont know which tranny you should go with but I am curious why you would want to go from a manual to auto tranny.......................

Both C4 or C6 would be a direct bolt on, as long as they have a small block bellhousing. A C4 would be the way to go, as they have lighter internals and will require less power to run - putting more to the wheels. A C6 would of course bolt in as well, but a small block bellhousing will be harder to find on one and you will need a custom driveshaft and probably have to do some hammering on the firewall and hump to get it to fit in there. You will likely need to find a driveshaft for the C4 as well though.

People will tell you the C6 is stronger, but its gonna suck up more power and a C4 will be able to hand all you can put to it anyways - if your pushin 500+ hp even (although you would need some beefier parts).
