Hey,
I am not only new to this forum but to muscle cars in general. I have a basic knowlege but a HUGE love for meat and muscle. I have a 79 Fox that I paid way to much for because I have wanted one of these since I was about 10 years old. I want to make it Street/Strip.
I am very interested if anyone has feedback as to how I could start gaining knowlege on how to choose parts, ie aftermarket Blocks, pistons, heads, blown or not etc etc. Also if there is any way I can learn about actually doing the work, balancing, porting/polish. I could go out and drop 16k and get a 600HP roush motor but I personally want to invest the time and effort into the car that way I know why it is fast as well as knowing just the fact that it is fast, not to mention the fact that I am not made of money. I am also trying to learn this because when my son grows up I would like for us to work on a project car together since he is in love with my car now and he is only 2 years old.
The car currently has a 351W, practically stock, edelbrock carb and manifold. I would like to start with an aftermarket Block or perhaps a Ford Racing Motors block and build from scratch. I would like to stay with a small Block and perhaps put a 250 shot of NOS on it even if I never spray. I would love to have a Blower because I think they are cool as all get out but I know they are expensive and didn't know if you could really use them on a Street car even though I know it depends on the pully configuration.
Where do you guys normally get your Parts? I have a subscription to Summit although it seems to be mostly for Chevy so I didn't know if there was a better place.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
