Car Show Questions
Not only am I a n00b to this forum, but also a doublen00b to the car show circuit (I've gone to car shows, but I now find myself on the other side of the registration table)!
We're planning a car show for all makes of cars and trucks in West Concord, MN (near Rochester) on July 28. We have about a 1 acre lot in back of the local historical society, which is about 1/3 paved and 2/3 grass. We can alsoblock offstreets on 3 sides of the WCHS building for cars, if we need to. Since we've never tried anything like this before, we have no idea how many show cars we can attract.
My personal interestisin Mustangs, and I'd love to have a healthy representation from the FoMoCo community, but also want to see what else we can get. I've been brainstorming on classes, and this is whatI have so far:
Unrestored Truck
Unrestored Car
Pre-1920
Pre-WWII
Post WWII (1945-1959)
1960’s
1970’s – newer
Plus, trophies for people's choice and a local celebrity's choice.
We're talking about having free hotdogs and pop for entrants, rather than dash plaques, registration fee of $5 and free admission for spectators. Judging could be done by the entrants - seems like it would mean more if the award came from a group of peers rather than the general public. It would also be easier for me to administer, I'm thinking.
This is mostly for fun and is not meant to be a prestigious or high-profile event. I'm open to any show-related activity, as well- burnouts, cruises, whatever... anything to make it fun.
I think if anyone would know how to make a show fun, it would be a group of Mustangers, right???? Please add your comments or suggestions.....

RE: Car Show Questions
Welcome to the forums!!! I'm in a Mustang Club and help out alot. I think you should break down the 1970's-Newer class. If you can try to do a 1970's class, 1980's class, 1990's class, and 2000's class. It will encourage more people to come.

RE: Car Show Questions
Thanks for the welcome, and thanks for the suggestion. The car show idea is something we haven't done before in this area, and I don't know what to expect. But, we're trying to get as many cars as possible, and expanding the classes sounds like a way to do that.
